About Paul Clapis
Paul has been at the forefront of new and emerging trends in science and AI for more than three decades. Known for his informative, highly engaging style, Paul has delivered over 200 presentations, keynote speeches, workshops, and webinars across the United States and Europe. He provides invaluable insights into the inner workings of Artificial Intelligence, and brings clarity to even the most complex topics.
After earning his PhD, he worked for Perkin-Elmer, NASA and Hughes Aerospace as a research physicist, contributing to several large scientific projects, including the Hubble Space Telescope. He also directed the Hughes Advanced Computing Lab at Yale Science Park, where he conducted applied research in massively parallel processing, artificial intelligence, expert systems, machine learning, and high-speed real-time distributed processing.
Paul has worked in the financial services industry for 25 years, serving as Vice President of Engineering and Architecture for FIS’ Reconciliation business, responsible for driving product innovation across the suite of solutions including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Prior to his role with FIS, he served as a Director of Professional Services and Director of Development for SunGard.
Paul holds a BS, MS and PhD in Physics from the University of Connecticut and is a member of the Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society, Sigma Xi, Project Management International and American Association of Physics Teachers. He is a native and long-time resident of Connecticut.
